Cashmere Coat Care Guide | 5 Easy Steps to Clean at Home

Hello!
Today, we’re sharing “How to Care for Your Cashmere Coat” at home!
With just 5 simple steps, you can keep your cashmere coat looking fresh and luxurious without sending it to the dry cleaner. Save this guide and make caring for your coat a breeze!

Step 1: Remove Dust and Surface Stains

Method 1: Use a soft-bristle brush to gently sweep dust and dirt off the coat. Brush in long, vertical strokes from the collar down to avoid fluffing up the cashmere fibers.
Method 2: No brush? No problem! Take a clean towel, dampen it slightly, and wring out the excess water. Lay the damp towel over the coat and use your hand or a stick to gently pat the towel. This will help absorb any dust or dirt.

Step 2: Soak and Clean the Cashmere Coat

Fill a clean basin with lukewarm water, not exceeding 86°F (30°C). Add a specialized cashmere detergent while filling the basin and mix it well. During the soak, gently press and squeeze the coat to ensure the detergent thoroughly penetrates the fabric.
⚠️ Note: Do not rub or scrub the coat, as this can cause pilling.

Step 3: Rinse Until the Water Runs Clear

Drain the soapy water and move the coat to another basin. Rinse it multiple times with clean water to remove all detergent and dirt. If you still see soap suds, repeat the rinse until the water is completely clear.

Step 4: Dry the Coat Properly

Gently press out excess water from the coat without twisting it, as this can cause the fabric to stretch. Lay the coat on a dry towel, roll it up, and press again to absorb water.
⚠️ Important: Never wring the coat! Lay it flat on a drying rack and reshape it while it dries. Make sure to turn it over periodically to ensure even drying. Do not hang the coat while it’s wet, as this can lead to distortion.

Step 5: Hang and Store the Coat

Once completely dry, place the coat in a garment bag or dust cover. Store it in a cool, ventilated space.
⚠️ Tip: You can also add mothballs or cedar balls in the closet for extra protection.

Important Reminder:
Not all cashmere coats are suitable for handwashing, so be sure to check the care label before starting. That's it for today! I hope these tips make it easier for you to care for your cashmere coat.
